Day 11: Final Day  This morning we woke up and said goodbye and thank you to our friends to begin the last leg of our adventure. We had decided again to break up the drive home with a stop at another spot with a Jr. Ranger program, and Desmond was excited to see the second largest dam in the world.  When we arrived at Fort Spokane Visitor Center, we were surprised to find that it had not opened yet. We looked at the map, thinking we could swing by the Grand Coulee Dam and come back, but it turned out to be quite a distance out of our way. Desmond was disappointed to hear this, as the visitor center we were at was not very impressive looking, and he had wanted to see the big dam.  Desmond at this point, who had taken off his junior ranger vest and hat when we found the visitor center still locked, informed us that he didn’t care about the badge and we could just go. (Understandable since we would be waiting for about an hour for this visitor center to open.) Fortunately, at this point

Day 10: Silverwood   Since the theme park didn’t even open until 11AM, we had a relaxing morning at the house. I scrambled up some eggs for folks, and we used up some left over diced ham from our pizza toppings.  I decided to run a few of our clothes through the wash and was amazed by the large capacity washer. I thought I had two loads worth of laundry. I put all of it in and went out to the car to find other stray clothes items to wash. What luxury and convenience!    Not sure how much one of those costs, but Debbie and I both decided it was now on our wish list.  The kids played nicely together. One minute swinging on the swing hanging from an old, large, weeping willow, the next minute playing tag in the yard. Finnley even found a bike that fit him well enough to go for a ride. It has been so fun to have more kids join in yesterday and today.  I finally was able to load some pictures into this blog and post an entry. I enjoyed a mug of tea and we visited in the backyard in the co

Day 9 After our late night, we woke up reluctantly and broke camp for the last time on this trip.    We may be still tired from stargazing, but regret nothing.  😄 We drove to Idaho, with a Wendy’s stop for lunch. As a surprise to the kids, we met another family of friends in the parking lot of    Boulder Beach water park. Desmond had never been to a water park before, so it was fun to see him trying so many new things today.  We met up with the Dahls without incident, entered the park, snapped a couple photos and got changed into our swimming suits. While we got lockers, Nora was “sun babe-ing” (aka: laying on the concrete in the sunshine).  Our first stop was an attraction called Lazy River. This was a shallow river that you can float down on inter-tubes, or swim or wade. The kids were swimming quickly and running away from the adults. Meanwhile, we tried to secure elusive inter-tubes for each member of our group.    When we finally all had tubes and had met back up with one anothe
